My well pump keeps clicking on and off.

That rapid on and off is called short cycling, and it usually means the pressure tank has lost its air charge or the bladder inside has failed, so the tank cannot store any water. The pump then kicks on every time you open a faucet, which wears it out fast. It can also be a bad pressure switch. Checking the tank takes a few minutes, and fixing it early can save you a pump.

Does my home have polybutylene pipe?

If your home was built or plumbed between the late 1970s and the mid 1990s, it might. Polybutylene is a gray or sometimes blue plastic supply pipe that was widely used in manufactured homes, and it turns brittle with age and can fail without warning, especially at the fittings. Look where the water line connects to the water heater or under the sinks. If you find it, it is worth planning a repipe before it leaks.

My water smells like rotten eggs.

That smell is hydrogen sulfide, and it is common with well water in this part of Florida. If it only shows up in the hot water, the cause is often the anode rod in the water heater reacting with the water, and swapping the rod usually fixes it. If the cold water smells too, the source is the well, and a filtration system is the usual answer. We can tell you which one you are dealing with.

How do I know if a slow drain is my plumbing or my septic tank?

Look at how many fixtures are affected. One slow sink or tub is almost always a clog in that drain line. If several drains are slow at once, toilets gurgle, or water backs up in the lowest shower, the problem is further down, either in the main line or at the septic tank. We can clear and camera the main line to tell you which it is before you pay for a tank pumping you may not need.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air.
