Why should my heat pump be checked before winter?

A coated coil sheds heat poorly, and a clogged filter starves the blower of air. Check your filter monthly in spring, and plan on a coil cleaning as part of every maintenance visit.

Should both systems in my home be serviced on the same visit?

It makes sense to. Servicing both at once saves a trip, keeps both systems on the same schedule, and lets us compare their readings side by side, which makes it easier to spot the one that is starting to slip. If one system serves a part of the house you rarely use, it still needs attention, since an idle system can develop drain and moisture problems.

What is a hard start kit, and does my system need one?

A hard start kit gives the compressor an extra boost of current for the first second or two of starting. Older compressors that struggle to start, systems on long refrigerant lines, and homes that run the AC from a generator can all benefit. It is not something every system needs. We check how your compressor starts during maintenance and tell you if one would help.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air. I opened up a can of worms and luckily they know what they are doing. I had a solution in minutes. It’s a pricey procedure but good air quality and a efficient electric bill is very important.
