What SEER2 rating should a new system have?

Federal rules already set the floor. Most new split air conditioners and heat pumps installed in Florida have to meet at least 14.3 SEER2. Going higher saves more on your power bill, but each step up costs more, and the payback depends on how long you will stay and how hard your system runs. We show you the price and the expected savings side by side so you can pick the level that actually pays off for you.

Can I replace just the outdoor unit?

Usually that is not a good idea anymore. New systems use newer refrigerants, and the indoor coil has to be matched to the outdoor unit for the system to work properly and keep its warranty. Pairing a new condenser with an old indoor coil often means lower efficiency and an earlier failure. In most cases we replace both halves together so the whole system is matched.

Do they make air conditioners built for salt air?

Some manufacturers offer coastal versions of their equipment with coated coils, heavier cabinets and more corrosion-resistant hardware, and coatings can be added to a standard coil as well. They cost more up front. For homes right on the water they are often worth it, and for homes farther inland they usually are not. We will tell you honestly which side of that line your house falls on.

Will a new system lower my electric bill?

If your current system is ten or more years old, it probably will. Older equipment was built to much lower efficiency standards, and a new system sized correctly for your home can cut the cooling part of your bill noticeably, sometimes by a quarter or more. How much depends on the old unit, the new one, and how well your ducts are sealed, so we look at all three before we give you a number.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air. I opened up a can of worms and luckily they know what they are doing. I had a solution in minutes. It’s a pricey procedure but good air quality and a efficient electric bill is very important.
