How often should I really be changing my filter?

It depends more on your house than the box it came in. A basic filter in a house with no pets and good air quality can go two to three months, while pets, dusty conditions or a cheaper filter can mean monthly. What does checking the refrigerant charge actually involve?

Does regular maintenance actually help with allergies?

It can, indirectly. A clean coil and blower wheel, a properly sealed system and a good filter all reduce what gets recirculated through the house, which matters if pollen or dust is a problem for you. Maintenance will not fix an allergy on its own, but a system that is dirty or leaking air from the attic makes it worse than it needs to be.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air. I opened up a can of worms and luckily they know what they are doing. I had a solution in minutes. It’s a pricey procedure but good air quality and a efficient electric bill is very important.
