Replacing a central system in Florida requires a mechanical permit, and the county inspects the work afterward, including the electrical connections, the drain and how the outdoor unit is secured. A licensed contractor pulls the permit as part of the job. If a quote does not mention a permit, ask, because unpermitted work can cause trouble with insurance and when you go to sell the house.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air.
