A clogged coil in April turns into a high bill in July.

Should I turn the AC off when I open the windows on a nice day?

Yes, turn it off at the thermostat so it is not trying to cool the whole neighborhood. Just remember the humidity comes in with the breeze, and when you close up again the system has to pull that moisture back out. If the house feels sticky afterward, give it a few hours to catch up before you assume something is wrong.

I got to see everything before it was replaced in my attic. They were very thorough in explaining to me what needed to be done and why my house wasn’t holding cool air.
